About First Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church in Rosenberg was originally started as John Hus Chapel in a Czech community in 1912.  Worship services were conducted in the Czech language until 1950 when the church hired Rev. Dawson Tunnell, an English-speaking pastor.

The church continued to flourish and grow until the congregation was able to move from the small building on Fourth Street into the new facility on Radio Lane.

We are classified In ecclesiastical circles as a "small church," but we are really a "small church with a big heart."  In its outreach to the community, this congregation has provided clothing, food, and financial help to those in need through Helping Hands and the Fort Bend Women's Center.  We've participated in the CROP Walk and worked at the Habitat for Humanity Restore.  The church provides a free Vacation Bible School open to all the children in our community and a Halloween Festival for more than 100 neighborhood children.  Projects for fall 2009 include 48 gift boxes to be distributed at the Port of Houston Seaman Center and food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We are a community of believers who seek to actively love and serve the Lord in this place.  Worship follows a traditional format, and children are celebrated in our midst through a "Time for the Children" followed by their own "Children's Church."
